Buckland Centre

On July 1, 1997, the Ranch Ehrlo Society opened a treatment centre, located in the rural municipality of Buckland, north west of Prince Albert.

The Buckland Centre is designed to meet the needs of youth and their families from northern communities and to assist youth in the eventual transition from residential treatment back to their home community. Youth who are preparing to return to their home communities in the north and have been successful following their participation in the Regina-based program, are considered for the Buckland Centre program.

The Buckland Centre provides after-care services and support to the youth and families for a period of one year following the youth's discharge from the residential treatment.

The Buckland Centre property is located on 40 acres that border the provincial forest and the Sturgeon River. Presently there are three residential units (Alex Guy House, Flegel House and Klassen House) which provide residential, education and clinical treatment services for the youth. Each residential unit has a clinical caseworker who provides individual, group and family counselling services. The youth participate in two weekly treatment groups, one which focuses on family relationships, and the other which focuses on developing the skills and knowledge required for successful community living.

As the youth are preparing for discharge during this phase of treatment, they are encouraged and supported to increase their participation in community-based leisure activities and education programs in order to become less reliant on activities and programs offered at the centre.
